Fake News: Augmentation

Fake news is nothing novel in the lexicon of American consumerism. Like clickbait or eye candy they are tools in the arsenal of designers. Endemic to American culture, augmentation is all about surface appearances. These state changes have unconsidered substantive consequences.

This piece was shown appropriately in Ventura, California in a group show called Click_Bait. Made with party balloons and frozen, the implants highlight the unpredictable temporal nature of augmenting reality. With fake news now a staple in partisan discourse, appearances are easily manipulated. The substance of those manipulations are often left open to criticism for the future when the state has changed.
